About HEADstrong and Nick’s House
The HEADstrong Foundation offers housing and community support for families displaced by cancer through Nick’s House, a welcoming and comforting home away from home. We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and hospitality-oriented individuals to serve as Part-Time House Managers.
Job Summary
As a House Manager at Nick’s House, you’ll be the primary point of contact for families staying in our home during their cancer treatment journey. You will help oversee daily house operations, ensure a safe and welcoming environment, and assist with guest services in alignment with the HEADstrong mission.
We’re looking for flexible applicants who can work at least twice weekly 9am - 3pm. Shifts may be assigned from our Philadelphia HEADquarters.
Key Responsibilities
House Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Nick’s House
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and hospitality standards throughout the house
- Monitor premises, respond to alarms/emergencies by reporting to property management, and troubleshoot facility issues
- Conduct guest check-ins and check-outs with warmth and professionalism
- Conduct tours to potential donors and/or supporters
- Maintain accurate guest records and manage supply inventory working with centralized purchasing on needs.
- Report maintenance needs and ensure common areas/guest rooms meet standards
Guest Support
- Foster a welcoming, home-like atmosphere for families staying at Nick’s House
- Schedule family meals
- Communicate with families compassionately and with discretion
- Serve as a trusted presence during emotional or high-stress situations
- Collaborate with staff to ensure a seamless guest experience
Volunteer Coordination (future)
- Support and guide volunteers during shifts
- Foster an engaging and respectful volunteer environment
- Help reinforce HEADstrong’s mission and values among volunteers
Qualifications & Competencies
- Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Prior experience in caregiving, social worker, nursing is a plus
- Must be flexible, dependable, and capable of working independently
- Ability to handle emotional or high-stress situations with empathy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management
- Computer proficiency (Google Business)
