Teammates In The Fight; 4th Annual Care For The Cure Recognizes HEADstrong
West Chester, PA - On November 10, 2012 at West Chester Henderson High School, both boys and girls lacrosse programs from the tri-state region, gathered to pay homage and remember Caroline Gallagher-Cranston at the 4th Annual Care For A Cure Lacrosse Tournament. Proceeds from this special charity tournament supported various non-profit organizations working to support innovative research and improve the quality of life for patients and families battling blood cancer.The positive energy surrounding the event was contagious as friends, families and teammates came together to celebrate Caroline's life. The event featured several sprawling fields showcasing some phenomenal talent, a vendor village and silent auction.This year several teams from the HEADstrong Lacrosse Club participated in the event and the Colleluori family was on hand to be presented with a check in the amount of $3,000 from the Gallagher and Cranston families.
"This is a very special event for our teams to be part of. This event allows both our boys and girls teams to play on the same stage. The meaning and significance associated with Care For A Cure encapsulates all that we are as a lacrosse club and an organization. We are proud to be part of it." says Brian Neary, HEADstrong Lacrosse Club DirectorOn August 15, 2008, Caroline (Care) Cranston, at 24 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia. She lost her courageous battle on May 8, 2010. In high school, Care played lacrosse for West Chester Henderson and continued her lacrosse career at Duquesne University. This special event's mission is to bring the lacrosse community together and raise awareness and funds for this terrible disease."We are truly honored to be recognized by the Gallagher and Cranston families through this very special event in remembrance of Caroline. We had the pleasure and privilege of getting to know personally her during her battle with Leukemia and she was a remarkable person.
